Going old school – WS2008 testing

In order to test a piece of hardware for my rig and an upcoming video, I had to break out a copy of Windows Server 2008 (not R2) for testing.

The hardware is an LSI SCSI card, actually intended for a Linux VM, but I wanted to test it within Windows first. The last LSI drivers available are for WS2008 (later versions don’t work properly). So, here i am building a 2008 server.

The actual card I was testing.

The card itself turned out to be faulty, the guy on eBay had no quibble accepting it back for a refund, so thanks!

I’ve got a replacement card, awaiting testing. I’ll put it in my rig soon and do some Linux VM pass-through testing on unRAID. It hopefully will be used for my HP LTO drive, within unRAID.
